The result of the Safford v. Redding case was both parties were acquitted. Although this brings an end to the case, I do not think it brings justice. The principal took the wrong course of action when dealing with this situation and because of this I feel he should have been punished for his decisions. The principal violated Miss Redding's 4th amendment rights by requiring his administrative assistant and the nurse to perform a strip search. Not only did the principal order this search, he also did not consult Miss Redding's parents. As a minor, Savana Redding's parents are directly responsible for their daughter's well being, and because they were not informed of what was taking place at her school, they were unable to make the decisions that were necessary, such as consulting a lawyer. Because of the actions that took place during this incident, I believe the defense should have been found guilty and prosecuted as such for everything they did wrong.
