Being that the Declaration of Independence is one of the most historical documents in history, it still contains some flaws. The declaration states "All men are created equal" and that is referring to all white, protestant men. White, protestant men were not the only men living. There were African American men, however to the people they were not considered men, they were property. In others eyes they were men, showing that the declaration was discriminatory and they statement saying all men are created equal was false. Slaves worked the hardest of everyone during this time because they were forced by their owners. It is not fair to not mention then in a document when they are just like every other man just a different skin color. Women are also not mentioned in the declaration which is sexist and not fair to women living at that time. Today the declaration is accurate when saying that all men are created equal because everyone is considered equal. There still is a handful of people who beleive blacks are not equal with whites, but they are. They are humans like everyone else. Thomas Jefferson wrote the declaration through how everyone looked at each other in the past, meaning african americans are property not people. It was wrong in the past the not consider someone a person but thankfully today that has changed.
