1) Over achieving goals of the Harlem Renaissance included entertainment, art, and writing. For example, Armstrong was considered one of the best trumpet player ever. People white or black would try to see him perform, but were restricted and drunk. Also, artwork was a goal because blacks try to achieve great heights through their art. They give off certain moods from the work to portray importance to other blacks. Writing was used to explain the lives of blacks and their goals. They always spoke highly of their futures because they did not want other blacks to lose hope of total equality. 2)Failure to achieve Civil Rights Movement in the 1920's is primarily caused by segregation and prejudice. Blacks were not given equal rights as whites even after slavery was over. Former slaves would be able to "live" life as they were by former slave owners, but they had no other benefits or changes. In other words, they still lived as a labor working individual. Exodusters, or skilled African American workers hoping to find opportunity through moving west, were failing to live life appropriately and hoped for a new one in the western US.
