There were several important issues discussed in the debate between Chris Christie and Barbara Buono. One big issue was that of taxes. Christie, in an attempt to highlight as many positives as he can, talks about how he has yet to raise taxes on one person in four years, showing that he has kept taxes reasonable for the people. He compares himself to previous governors, and talks about the New jersey government shutting down to a dispute in how high to raise taxes. Other than taxes, one huge issue brought up in the debate was minimum wage. I thought that this was an interesting topic. The thought that simply raising the price of minimum wage can prevent people from needing to work multiple jobs in order to support their families is astonishing to me. While it appears beneficial, I do not think the wage should be raised because this requires companies to spontaneously pay more money, which could reap bad consequences in the long run.
