How did the declaration of Independence fail to deliver it's promises to all people?
The Declaration Of Independence was first adopted by the first continental congress on July 4th 1776. This document allowed the thirteen colonies that were at war with Great Britain to no longer listen to them and create a new type of government. This document announced and explained why the United States of America wanted separation. The Declaration Of Independence was led by Thomas Jefferson and led with five people on the committee with a point to get out of Great Britain. The colonies were fed up with Great Britain because they adding a lot of tax on things which made them very up set. The main point Thomas Jefferson wanted to make is that all men are created equal.
This historic document failed providing everyone freedom from Great Britain because the part where Thomas Jefferson say "all men are created equal" it is limited to white men. Unlike today where everyone has equal rights. White men were the superior and everyone else were treated like property not human beings. Women and African american slaves were treated very poorly and were not equal at all.The main reason the Declaration of independence was written was to step away from King George III. It failed to to provide equal opportunity.
